About the path
This one's for the kids! The Onepoto Beginners Path is a safe, sealed cycling circuit. It's perfect for children learning to ride and improve their skills and confidence on bikes, balance bikes and scooters.
Onepoto Domain in Northcote, a crater-shaped park that was formed by a volcanic eruption 20,000-30,000 years ago. Public toilets are available adjacent to the sports fields.
The path has traffic markings, a roundabout and intersections to practice turning and giving way. Confident kids can challenge themselves by navigating bridges, jumps, bumps and other fun obstacles.
After practicing riding, kids can continue their fun at the two great playgrounds next to the path. The flying fox and large tunnel slide at the adventure playground are popular attractions.
If you want to keep exploring, there's a network of pathways that connect the various areas of Onepoto Domain. Check out the two freshwater lakes - a favourite location for operating radio control boats and model sail boats.
The beginners path and playground are popular with families, especially on weekends. A weekday visit may be better if you're wanting a quieter environment for younger children to practice.
Bring your own food for a picnic or barbecue, as there are no shops immediately surrounding the park.
