About the path
A flat, wide path around Parrs Park in Oratia. This scenic walk or bike is suitable for all ages and abilities.
Come prepared - there's plenty to do so chances are you'll want to stay in Parrs Park for a while!
It's a great track for children learning to ride, and has a small bike pump area. If you can, time your visit when sports games have finished so the park is a bit quieter.
The north-eastern area of the park has picnic tables, boardwalks and a wetland habitat. Waikumete Stream has been restored and planted with native vegetation along its banks.
The 'Apple Box' playground draws inspiration from the Oratia Beauty (a local apple variety). The playground is best known for its tall tower, two awesome slides and array of climbing activities. An interactive sand and water play area provides kids with hours of fun and water flow experimentation. Younger children will love the caterpillar seesaw and rocking bumble bees.
It's easy to be active and use the outdoor exercise equipment, basketball half court and artificial sports turf at Parrs Park. The nearby large open green space is perfect for games and activities.
Car parking and public toilets are available.
If you're visiting on a Saturday morning, don't miss the lively Oratia Farmers Market on West Coast Road, a few minutes walk from the park. This authentic farmers market showcases fresh quality food, and live music.
