About the path
A hidden bush haven in St Heliers with great walking tracks. Dingle Dell Reserve offers natural beauty and peace in its hectares of native bush.
A network of all-weather walking paths in the reserve meander through regenerating bush.
The paths are a combination of tracks, gravel and easy stairs set in the bush (not suitable for pushchairs). Tracks are well signposted. Take old shoes as it gets very muddy!
See native bush, birdlife and streams along the way. Many trees have identifying signs. There are also open grassy spaces and seating to enjoy.
The best place to start is by the public toilets off Fern Glen Road North / Dingle Road. Follow the signs for the Scenic Bush Walk.
The paths are secluded so you may prefer to walk with other people. Dogs are permitted on a leash.
Adventure-seekers can bring along a torch and plan a glow worm hunt at night.
Dingle Dell Reserve was originally a raupō swamp. The reserve has been planted and developed over the years by residents and the council. Some residents include a women's progress league and later the St Heliers Beautifying Society.
