Pukekiwiriki Paa Joint Management Committee

About the committee

Pukekiwiriki Paa is a historic and culturally important reserve in Papakura. In 2010 we set up the Pukekiwiriki Paa Joint Management Committee, enabling mana whenua and Papakura Local Board to work together to manage the reserve.

The committee’s responsibilities include:

  • deciding on Pukekiwiriki Paa Reserve Management Plan priorities
  • monitoring progress of the plan and the effect of changes made to the land
  • ensuring maintenance works are carried out according to the plan.

Mana whenua are also kaitiaki (guardians) of the reserve and uphold customary practices to preserve and protect the land.

Committee members

The committee has mana whenua and Papakura Local Board members. The chair is Karen Wilson (Te Ākitai Waiohua) and the deputy chair is Brent Catchpole of the Papakura Local Board.
