A carport is a shelter for vehicles. It must have a roof supported by posts and at least one side open at all times. Building a new carport greater than 40 square metres will always require a building consent.
Repair involves fixing any component or assembly (in the same position) of an existing carport that wore out through wear and tear. Replacing involves rebuilding an existing carport in the same position as before.
