About the path
A fantastic walk through Macleans Park combining bush, wetlands and spectacular sea views.
Start at Macleans Road, or from any of the access points to Macleans Park from local streets.
Most of the path is gravel, and there are some steeper sections and steps along the route.
The loop through Macleans Park winds through regenerating bush and wetland areas. The wide open green spaces are great for flying kites or throwing around a frisbee.
Off-leash reserve areas make the route ideal for dog walking.
Admire amazing views to the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto and Waiheke Islands. The kids play area is a great spot to relax and take in the scenery. Have a blast trying out the flying fox and swings, while enjoying one of the best views in Auckland!
The walkway joins up to access beautiful Eastern Beach which is just a stone's throw away (public toilets are located here).
In recent years, restoration planting of native trees and shrubs around the gully and streams has helped to provide roosting and foraging habitat for a number of native bird species. These include kingfisher (kotare), fantail (pīwakawaka), New Zealand pigeon (kereru), silvereye (tauhou), tūī and grey warbler (riroriro).
