About the path
Learn how Duder Regional Park is walking the talk on sustainability. This 1.5-hour walk is a fun and practical way to learn about sustainable farming.
From the main car park, follow the yellow route markers (the track starts past the stock yards).
This trail takes you alongside wetland ecosystems, and through parkland and sections of regenerating coastal bush. You'll be walking along grass and bush tracks which may become muddy when wet, so bring old shoes.
The coastal forest mostly consists of taraire, tawa, kānuka, pūriri and karaka, with the occasional remaining kauri. There are remnants of original native forest cover in the gullies. See if you can spy the yellow kōwhai flowers in bloom.
If you've been inspired by what you've seen, consider joining an Auckland Council volunteer day to help out with planting and conservation work, or try out the orienteering course after your walk. Forty markers are spread around the park - just pick up a map from one of the noticeboards in the park.
Duder is a working farm - leave gates as you find them. Dogs are not allowed in Duder Regional Park.
