About the path

A newly developed safe walking and cycling route from Grey Lynn Park to Coxs Bay Reserve.

Recruit some friends or whānau to try out the new route with you! The path is mainly flat and travels through local parks. In some sections you'll be walking on the footpath or riding on-road, with traffic-calming measures and safe crossing opportunities.

Start at Williamson Avenue and head through Grey Lynn Park - a popular family park with plenty of fun activities on offer.

The playground is a great spot for kids to stretch their legs - they'll love the balancing log, flying fox and climbing frames.

Check out the popular toddler outdoor paddling pool (open from early December to mid March, entry is free), which is covered by shade sails and has a trained lifeguard on duty.

For older kids, there’s a skateboarding ramp and a basketball half court to keep them entertained. At the other end of Grey Lynn Park you'll find an asphalt pump track, full basketball court, tennis court, netball hoops and exercise equipment, making this a park that will not disappoint.

After Grey Lynn Park, head up Dryden Street. Turn left into Cockburn Street and cruise through Hakanoa Reserve, following the path until you reach the Richmond Road shops. If you've worked up an appetite, this is a perfect mid-way stopping point for a coffee and bite to eat.

Enter Hukanui Reserve and keep going until you reach Coxs Bay Reserve. Here you can catch a sports game, kick a ball around the fields, visit the second playground or just relax and enjoy the great views of the Waitematā Harbour.

Public toilets are available at Grey Lynn Park and Coxs Bay Reserve.
