Alcohol Control Bylaw 2014
This bylaw protects public safety by enabling alcohol bans in public places that experience high levels of alcohol-related crime or disorder.
What the Alcohol Control Bylaw does
This bylaw enables alcohol bans to be put in place in areas across Auckland.
Alcohol bans prohibit drinking and possessing alcohol in public places during particular times.

Who can make an alcohol ban?
Alcohol bans in public places
Local boards decide when to make alcohol bans in local public places, for example at local parks, beaches and along roads.
Alcohol bans in area of regional significance
The Governing Body of Auckland Council makes alcohol bans in areas of regional significance, for example in regional parks.
All alcohol bans are enforced by the police.
