Pukekohe Area Plan

The Pukekohe Area Plan provides a development framework for the Pukekohe area for the next 30 years.

Franklin Local Board's vision

The area plan sets out the Franklin Local Board's vision for how Pukekohe will grow and develop.

Considerations of the Pukekohe Area Plan

The Auckland Plan identifies Pukekohe as a priority satellite town for 50,000 people and 9000 new jobs in the next 30 years.

The Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan includes Future Urban Zone land around Pukekohe - for residential, business and industrial use.

Objectives of the Pukekohe Area Plan

The Pukekohe Area Plan:

  • sets out actions and outcomes that will help us achieve the board's vision
  • identifies the areas of Future Urban zoned land that could be zoned for residential, business and industrial use, subject to structure plan investigations and district plan changes.

Pukekohe Area Plan progress

Since the Pukekohe Plan was adopted in 2014, we have made significant progress on these actions:

  • Upgrade of the Pukekohe Train Station
  • Managing future growth through the Unitary Plan, Structure Planning and Special Housing Areas
  • Infrastructure upgrades to support growth and development
  • Adoption of the refreshed Franklin Local Economic Action Plan
  • A number of improvements in the centre delivered through the Pukekohe Town Centre Revitalisation Project
  • Structure planning of the Future Urban Zone around Pukekohe/Paerata

We are still working on a number of other actions, such as planning for local walking and cycling trails.
