Climate change and natural hazards are interlinked. We know that global changes in temperatures directly influence the frequency and severity of many natural hazards.
Increases of air and water temperatures lead to:
- rising sea levels
- supercharged storms and higher wind speeds
- more intense and prolonged droughts and wildfire seasons

heavier precipitation and flooding.
We have been managing our natural hazards for many years. Planning for an increase in these is a key focus of this plan and the Natural Hazards Management Action Plan once finalised.
Actions in these two plans support each other to deliver greater
resilience for the region.
