Information we use from business registration applications

When we process a business registration or license of premises application, we will collect, use and protect all personal information as set out in the Privacy Act 2020.

Personal information includes your name, date of birth and contact details.

We also collect personal information for research and statistical purposes to improve our services.

Applications for food business

Under the Food Act 2014, we will collect all the information you provide in your food business registration forms.

Sharing information

We will share registration and verification details with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) in line with section 367 of Food Act 2014.

This information will be available on the MPI public register.

Under section 368(3) of the Food Act 2014, we will also share information you provide in your food business registration form to:

• Ministry for Primary Industries
• Ministry of Health
• Auckland Regional Public Health
• New Zealand Police
• Customs New Zealand.
