There are no public rubbish or recycling bins on Kawau Island.
There is a secure enclosure near Sandspit wharf where residents and property owners can dispose of their rubbish and recycling.
The enclosure has a pin-code entry gate. This code is shared with:
- residents
- ratepayers
- Kawau Island Residents and Ratepayers’ Association (KIRRA).
Take any excess rubbish, recycling and larger items to Warkworth (Lawrie Road) Community Recycling Centre.
Information for visitors
We have removed the large public rubbish and recycling bins at Sandspit.
Visitors to the island must take their rubbish and recycling waste home with them.
