Council-controlled organisations (CCOs)

CCOs are organisations in which the council has the responsibility to appoint at least 50 per cent of the board of directors or trustees.

Auckland Council has five substantive CCOs and a number of legacy non-substantive CCOs. Auckland Council also owns Port of Auckland (POAL) which is governed under the Port Companies Act 1988 and is not a CCO.
