About the committee
This committee makes decisions about how the Te
Pūkaki Tapu o Poutūkeka and Ngā Kapua Kohuora are managed.
In 2010,
mana whenua and council members entered into a co-management agreement, creating the Te Pūkaki Tapu o Poutūkeka Historic Reserve and Associated Māori Lands co-management committee. They updated the agreement in 2023.
The committee aims to:
- preserve the cultural and historic significance of the reserve
-
uphold mana whenua’s kaitiaki (guardian) responsibilities and traditions
- protect and manage the land as a public reserve
- contribute to a management plan for the reserve that meets the requirements of the Reserves Act 1977.
Committee members
The committee has three representatives from Te Ākitai Waiohua / Pūkaki Māori Marae Committee and three from Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board.
