Apply for a building consent to install a solar or heat pump water heating device

​What you should know before you apply

We recommend that the supplier or installer of the appliance completes and submits the application on your behalf.

You will need to supply a letter authorising the installer to act on your behalf with the application.

After your device has been installed, you will also need to provide a completed producer statement construction (PS3) Solar or heat pump water heating.

The installer should be listed on our producer statement authors register.

You should know

Once work is completed you will need to apply for a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC). All CCC applications, including fixed fee consents, will be subject to additional charges for processing (excludes subsidised applications).

Service Fee
Subsidised fixed fee (non-refundable and no additional charges) for solar or heat pump water heating devices installed by an approved installer offering a producer statement. The fee covers the processing and issuing of Code Compliance Certificate.

Solar or heat pump water heating devices fixed fee (non-refundable) installed by a person who is not an approved installer. Includes one inspection deposit fee.

We only accept online applications for this consent. If you are unable to apply digitally, visit one of our libraries with council services for assistance in making your online application.
