RIMU - Research and Evaluation Unit
RIMU is the council's centre for environmental, social, economic and cultural research.
RIMU carries out these evidence-gathering functions:
- research
- monitoring
- evaluation
- reporting.
As Auckland grows and changes, this evidence-based information helps the council develop, implement and evaluate policy.
RIMU offers a range of research services to all council departments and council-controlled organisations (CCOs).
The wider community can also access the council's research results and publications through
Knowledge Auckland.
Knowledge Auckland website
RIMU shares research about Auckland on the
Knowledge Auckland website.
Here you will find research, information, analysis and data about Auckland's communities, economy and the environment.
The website also hosts publications and research resources from a variety of other research organisations including other councils, government departments and universities.
Technical reports on Knowledge Auckland
Technical reports and technical publications are published on
Knowledge Auckland and are identified by a report number (for example: TR2018/001, TP108).
Entering a report number in the search box is the best way of identifying and finding a report.
Finding information on the environment
RIMU monitors and reports on the state of Auckland's environment and emerging environmental trends. This information feeds into New Zealand's national environmental monitoring programme. You can access this information for free using our
