The maps on this page show places where freedom camping is not allowed in Ōtara-Papatoetoe under the Freedom Camping in Vehicles Bylaw 2022. This does not mean that freedom camping is allowed anywhere not shown.

In addition to the bylaw rules for the areas in Ōtara-Papatoetoe shown below, you also cannot freedom camp:

  • at council reserves (parkland held under the Reserves Act), unless we set aside areas for this in future
  • in regional parks
  • in car parks where parking is reserved, and/or a fee is charged to park (such as council parking buildings).
