In October 2023, the Supporting Growth Programme lodged eight Notices of Requirement with Auckland Council for eight transport projects.
These projects will protect routes in:
- Pukekohe
- Paerata
- Drury West.
The Waka Kotahi (NZTA) transport project for Mill Road and Pukekohe East Road Upgrade (NoR 8) is located within both Auckland and Waikato, so a Notice of Requirement has also been lodged with the Waikato District Council.

What a Notice of Requirement does
A Notice of Requirement protects specified areas of land from being used in a way that would prevent proposed public work.
Protecting these routes will enable:
- provision for improved walking and cycling
- public transport
- general traffic connections.
