Financial assistance for accommodation
If you are a New Zealand citizen, resident, refugee or
protected person who is affected by 2023 weather events, you may be able to get
temporary accommodation assistance through Work and Income.
Temporary accommodation service
If you were displaced from your home by the 2023 extreme weather events, you may be eligible for temporary accommodation service by Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE). Complete the
Request for temporary accommodation form or phone
0508 754 163.
They will contact you within 48 hours to talk about your housing needs.
