If you are opening a new rubbish collecting business, email us at waste.licensing@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz to discuss your plans.
You need to register to operate:
- rubbish collection businesses
- businesses and people who collect or transport disposed or discarded material exceeding 20 tonnes in Auckland in each 12-month period
- donation collection points (clothing bins or similar) in public places.
Taking over an existing rubbish collecting business
If you are taking over an existing business, email us at waste.licensing@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz.
You can transfer an existing registration into your name. You must apply within 14 days of taking over the business. After this period, the registration expires and can not be transferred.
