Responsible Investment Policy
Our Responsible Investment Policy sets out Auckland Council’s principles and guidelines for investing responsibly.
About the policy
The Responsible Investment Policy applies to all of the council’s current and future investment funds, including:
What the policy covers
The Responsible Investment Policy provides guidelines for the council's investment fund managers.
The guidelines outline what investment managers must consider when they make investments for the council. This includes:
- environmental, social and governance issues
- climate change
- companies and industries we do not invest in, such as tobacco and fossil fuel.
The policy also provides guidance about 'active ownership' of investments. It advises that investment managers must work with the companies they invest in to improve their environmental, social and governance practices.
The council selects investment managers based on how well they meet the guidelines set in our policy.
We will review the policy every three years, or as required.
